1. Acting Secretary of Agriculture Chuck Conner continued to stress the administrations frustration with new taxes to fund farm programs. Conner told the AFBF delegation here in New Orleans that President Bush wanted to sign a new farm bill into law, but would not accept new taxes to pay for it.

3. Illinois Farm Bureau President Phillip Nelson says a large delegation of the state's farm bureau members have gathered here in New Orleans. Nelson says Illinois farmers are adjusting to new economic realities with the demand for bulk commodities.

4.Indiana Farm Bureau President Don Vilwock is one of about 200 Hoosier Farm Bureau members who'e come to New Orleans. Vilwock agrees a new farm bill is critical, but says the recently approved energy will is good news for Indiana Agriculture.
